Sarah Gronquist
Senior Landscape Architect, Thuilot Associates Sarah has been a practicing landscape architect in the Bay Area for 20 years. At Thuilot Associates, she is a project manager for several Silicon Valley commercial and multifamily housing organizations that own and maintain a portfolio of properties. At this scale, the design challenge is about seeking the best long-term irrigation solutions for landscapes, and then finding maintenance companies with the technical skills to take advantage of exciting new irrigation systems and digital tools.
About this speaker
Growing up in rural Western New York State provides a level of comfort with the natural world and its cycles. Sarah decided to become a landscape designer after earning a sculpture degree as an undergraduate, thus combining her farmgirl roots and her strong interest in design and construction. After two decades of working on many different types of landscape design projects. Sarah now splits her time between project management at Thuilot Associates and preparing landscape designers for the Landscape Architect Registration Exam through webinars and digital courses. She finds that working with a national pool of young designers provides a fascinating lens on the state of landscape design in North America, even as California becomes ever more complex.
